Barn conversion success
We are thrilled that planning permission has just been granted by South Somerset District Council for this stunning conversion.

The proposal was submitted as a prior approval under the provisions of Class Q of the General Permitted Development Order 2015, which allows for the conversion of agricultural buildings where they meet a number of criteria.

The conversion will provide 3 new dwellings and is beautifully designed. Whiteacre Planning, Tim Cole Downes Architectural Services and the client worked together to come up with the scheme which is both simple in approach and also strikingly modern. The design uses materials typically used in agricultural buildings such as this. The walls are clad with timber, but the metal sheeting used for the roof has been brought down the sides of the building which gives it real character.

New glazing is proposed in the form of large panels which will flood the dwellings with natural light. There will be large rooflights to provide light (and a view of the stars) to the bedrooms on the first floor

Each house will provide 2 bedrooms: one on the ground floor and a second suite on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the double height living space. Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen/diner/living room with sliding doors opening out onto the garden.
We cannot wait to see this one finished - it is going to be stunning!
